Social Dialogue & Economic Development

FES cooperates with various actors in the field of economics and in this framework it aims to hold and initiate dialogues that contribute to the fair balancing of interests and to a sustainable economic growth. The country continues to face an economic transformation, however, there is still a need to implement reforms to achieve higher productivity, create more jobs, improve public service delivery and enable good governance. In order To ensure long-term positive effects, Albania needs to guarantee the economic growth to be translated into a significantly higher wellbeing of the entire population across all social classes and groups.

Amongst others partners, FES collaborates closely with trade unions in order to strengthen the positions of all workers in Albania. Trade unions have enhanced their activities for employees’ protection and collective agreements during the last years. So far, however, they have been struggling to bridge the gap between them. The overall trade union membership in the private sector remains low.

The goal is to have strong and competent social partners who take responsibility for actively shaping economic and social policy.

We jointly plan and implement:

  • Workshops and round tables
  • Informative visits and international exchanges
  • Public conferences
