Active Civil Society and Youth
The Foundation cooperates with various organizations and associations that are actively committed to the country's democratic development. Civil society organizations are in a rather weak position in Albania, despite the growing number of NGOs. It can be observed that many organizations have a poor operating structure and institutional capacity. For this reason they are not able to properly work in the interest of the citizens. With strong commitment, FES Albania tries to strengthen civil society and civic engagement and fosters a network of various actors in the field.
The population strongly influenced by the political culture of the county which has only very little experience with democracy. Thus, after the fall of the dictatorship, there has been no complete replacement of elites or education of the general public. Therefore, in the long-term a fundamental change is only possible through a “political socialization” of today’s generation and by embedding European democratic values. Since the majority of Albania’s population is under the age of 30, FES sets great value on supporting young people in developing and promoting their interests.
FES Tirana takes measures to encourage social and political participation of civil society and youth.
We jointly plan and implement:
- Public meetings and summer schools
- Seminars and Workshops
- Youth campaigns
- Seminars and Workshops
- Dialogue and information exchange with other actors
- Public discussions
