Social-Ecological Transformation in the district of Berat

Five 2-day seminars were held in the 5 municipalities of the Berat district (Berat, Dimal, Kuçovo, Poliçan and Skrapar), with the participation of experts from different fields of the municipality (energy, agriculture, forests, industry, transport, municipal public services) , members of the municipal council, business representatives, farmers and young people.

Participants discussed climate justice and social-ecological transformation of the energy, agriculture, forestry, industry, transport, public municipal services and private services sectors, to achieve high levels of reduction of the effects of climate change in all economic and social sectors. of municipalities. The seminars were led by Dr. Besim Islami, expert in climate and energy changes. Through group work, the participants analyzed the socio-ecological transformation in different sectors of their municipality.

During the workshop, the need for a comprehensive process was emphasized. On the one hand, the role of the local government in supporting this process by committing to a transformation of infrastructures and institutions is very important. At the same time, this process requires civic engagement, of individuals, the private sector and civil society. This comprehensive cooperation between different actors remains essential for the transformation of economic and social structures towards sustainable solidary and ecological forms of economy, coexistence and action.
