The Seventh General Assembly of the National Youth Congress

The Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES), in close collaboration with the National Youth Congress (NYC), organized on July 15th , 2019 the Seventh General Assembly of the National Youth Congress with representatives of over 100 youth organizations around the country.

This FES initiative, aiming at strengthening the active participation of youth in the democratic processes in the country and strengthening the youth voice, is a long-term investment of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Albania.

Over 200 representatives of youth organizations and networks discussed issues of fundamental importance to young people in Albania this year. The focus of the work on drafting the 3-year strategy of the Congress was on the following topics:

• Civic activism closer to the community.

• Youth employment and mobilization.

• Formal and non-formal education of young people.

• Turnover economy and youth migration.

• Increasing youth participation - Alliances for promoting participation.

• Communication

• EU integration and regional cooperation

• Environmental issues and climate change awareness

• Health and social security

The panel discussion on "Addressing the needs of Albanian youth through structured dialogue: Youth Employment, a Necessity for EU Integration" with the participation of state institutions and national and international partners and supporters of NYC, addressed the following key issues: increasing the presence and impact of youth in decision-making and policymaking processes at both local and national levels, and empowering them economically by promoting employment and mobility.

During this panel, they discussed the contribution each of these organizations and partner institutes of the National Youth Congress have to young people and future plans that are expected to be implemented to foster cooperation between different actors in Albania and in the region as a key factor in issues. integration, various projects and activities to empower and promote civil society organizations through their involvement in community, decision making etc.

In the second part of the event, congressional representatives presented the one-year work, a summary of National Youth Congress projects, initiatives, and events. During this session were presented the achievements and challenges that the Congress and its member organizations have encountered throughout the year.

Elections to the Governing Board were held at the end of the day.
